An author and main character new to me. Martha Patterson is a 70-something retired lawyer who consults on the side. No Miss Marple though, Martha is determined to find out who concussed her best friend in the course of murdering said friend's assistant and destroying her "maquette". A maquette is a miniature of a larger artwork, in this case, to be submitted to a juried art contest and show.
