This is the second book in Joey Hill's Vampire Queen series. I enjoyed the first book very much, but the second one is even more intense and enthralling. I usually prefer lighthearted quick-read paranormal romance books, but this story is so moving that I couldn't put it down. It's filled with love, pain, and devotion and moved me to near tears at points. Of course being an erotic vampire story it also has plenty of violence and a plethora of sizzling sex scenes that left me breathless. It's certainly not for the easily offended or faint of heart. It was perfect for me though, and I give it an A+!

The first book in this series, Vampire Queen's Servant I only had a few words for Disturbing and Intriguing. This 2nd book is the continuation of Jacob & Lyssa's story. It has its moments, but boy I laughed, cried, and also couldn't put it down especially towards the end. I can't wait to read more, not just in this series, but also by Joey W. Hill.

I really liked the first one in this series.....but I just couldn't get to the end of this. Maybe for me the premise has run it's course. The characters don't grab me in this one like they did in the first one. It seems sort of recycled from the first....

As with the previous book in the series, I was very much drawn into the story and did not want to put it down, wanting to know "what happens next"
Again, as with the first book, there are some very intense BDSM passages as well as what some might consider gratuitous violence/abuse, so if you're not able to immerse yourself into another culture (the Vampire's) where that behavior truly is accepted and even expected by both the Masters/Mistresses and their servants, I would suggest this book may not be for you.
In some ways I felt that the relationship between Lyssa and Jacob jumped farther forward from the ending of one book to the beginning of the next than I would have expected to happen immediately, but it was a minor bump and quickly passed as I got further into the story.
What makes this book so very erotic for me is the overwhelming passion and devotion of Jacob. Despite his own dominant personality, the fact that he truly needs to submit to his Mistress because that is what she needs.
I would not suggest reading this book without having read the previous story The Vampire Queen's Servant. I think it would be too difficult to understand the devotion of Jacob without that background.
