I couldn't finish this one. I was slightly put off by the almost incest factor and the 'I raised her now I want to sleep with her' aspect but really I just didn't find the writing very hot.

I love menage stories but this was just all wrong. The young female lead is bullied into having sex with 3 brothers that she grew up with. The brothers can't prove their love to each other without sharing their women? Whether the women like the idea or not? Not erotic in my opinion. Maybe if all the characters didn't need some serious counseling and decided to be together because, gasp!, they ALL want to, I would have enjoyed it. I very rarely regret a book purchase but this was one...

Hmmm.... Not bad, but definitely for the...open-minded. A couple elements of the plot slide over to the icky side of things if focused to any degree, but I just kind of rolled my eyes and laughed about it. So just be in the mood to go with it, not think too much, and have fun!
Oh, and as far as I can tell, Ellora's Cave has decided to save money on this book by canning all their copy editors. Either that or they *need* to can all their copy editors. :P

This book had some interesting ideas, but most were left as shells, without as much interaction with plot. Why is Cade the way he is? What caused their family to live this way on the ranch? The romance parts could also be less physical - almost like the hero only knew one way to express himself, even in inappropriate situations. Marly had some character development, but overall the development was sacrificed for too much jumping threads and blow by blow descriptions. Good characters, not enough plot. Bummer! Too much for one book, leaving it a somewhat empty read.

I was a little weary at first with all of the mixed reviews, but I went ahead and got the book anyway, and I'm glad I did. I completely enjoyed the book. I loved the fact that the August men were not perfect; I liked their tortured past. It gave the book so much more depth and feeling. My heart went out for them, and at the same time, I wanted to kick them. Cade loved his brothers the only way he knew how, and this book shows you how he does it, and how he loves Marly at the same time.
Marly is a strong character. She know what she wants, and that is Cade. She knows everything she will get along with Cade and still she loves him. She has loved him always, since she was a girl; she will do anything to capture his heart. Cade also has always loved Marly, and has been fighting it because he feels like it is wrong since he helped raised her, even though there is no blood relation. But he finally realizes he can't stop his strong feelings for Marly, and that he must have her; which means he must also share her with his brothers. On top of this, there is also someone trying to harm Marly and the August men, someone out for revenge. This book is a must read. I can't wait to read Brock's story.

For the first in a series, this was a good book. Not a great book, but I enjoyed it and think that the series gets better as you go along. I had a difficult time understanding rational of why the brothers developed the realtioship that they did but as the story progressed, it became less important. I would recommend it to Lora Leigh fans and non-fans alike.

Wow. Talk about dysfunctional. I love a good erotic romance as well as the next person, but this series, Marly's Choice, Sarah's Seduction and Heather's Gift, give dysfunction true definition. Three brothers have a terrible experience in their youth which leads them to sharing the women they love with one another. I appreciate that erotica is the major draw, but at some point a splash of rationale should have been inserted - thought to at least seeking some type of therapy should have at least been a consideration by the women who supposedly did not want to be shared.
While there were exciting sexual encounters, I found it difficult to appreciate the story due to the tortured characters- both male and female - acceptance of their mental issues.

First in the Men of August series, this is an excellent read. Very hot!
I want you and love you, but I can't it's not right! That seems so be the theme throughout the book. Yes, lots of sex as we expect from Lora Leigh's books. There is a twist to why she ended up with her "adopted" uncles. Not close to incest in my opinion as they are not related.
Excellent book, but have come to expect nothing less from Lora Leigh. However, I must admit, I was COMPLETELY shocked by the end to Chapter 27. I won't give it away, but I will say this, there is only so much a woman, even one desperately in love, can accept.
She has a choice she can surrender to Cade's needs his soul deep desires or she can walk away a choice only Marly can make A choice that will change her life forever
