This is not a work of fiction -- if you're looking for a light read about England and America during the period before the first world war, this is not it. I found How To Marry an English Lord book very interesting and insightful but a bit difficult to get through -- its kind of the same story over and over again. That said, the research was very thorough and the "comme il faut" facts were fun.
If you are a big Downton Abbey fan, the book explains a lot -- in part regarding Robert's relationship with Cora -- and her's with her mother-in-law.

The authors clearly did a great deal of research, but all those facts did not translate into an interesting or engaging story for the reader. It read like a textbook or reference book for this time period. It was just okay.
