When we met Daisy Bellamy in the first Lakeshore book, she was a teenager. She was mad at her parents, who later divorced, and she was acting out. Partying too hard, surly, etc. And then...she got pregnant and her life changed.

We have followed her trials and tribulations and the two guys who both love her: exotic Julian and home town boy and father of her son, Logan.

Daisy and Julian have never really had a chance. They meet at Camp Kioga one summer when he is visiting his brother, Connor (who is married to Daisy's cousin, Olivia). He leaves to go home and Daisy gets pregnant.

They stay in touch but Daisy is busy raising young Charlie and Julian is in the ROTC.

Logan, meanwhile, moves to Avalon to spend time with Charlie and he's become a stand up guy.

How does she choose because a choice must be made.


I loved the telling of this story (no I'm not going to say who she ends up with) but the problem is that I was TOLD the story. There was no emotion.

No, struggle over whom she ends up with. No emotion of any kind in this book. It was simply a recitation of facts with a few embellishments.

Sadly, after waiting so long, this book just fizzled out.

Readers of this series already know the earlier part of Daisy's story, a spoiled wealthy teen with divorced parents, attending an exclusive private school, becomes pregnant at a drunken teen party but rises to the occasion to become a loving and independent mother. She continues her education and leads a busy but lonely life, committed to her son Charlie, but separated always from the love of her life, Julian, while maintaining a pleasant but platonic relationship with Logan, the father of her son. This book has a more intricate plot than many others in this series and almost anything I write about the book after this point becomes a spoiler, so if you dont want to know the plots ups and downs before reading the book, best to stop reading now. Okay, for those who dont mind more information about the book, Julian, product of a broken home and raised in a dangerous neighborhood, soars despite the odds to become an Ivy League graduate and Air Force officer, and after proposing to Daisy most romantically, races off to another continent on a secret mission, which goes tragically wrong, and is suddenly out of Daisy's life and dreams. The funeral scenes for the young soldier were so tragic and sad, they actually had me weeping. After Julian's death, Daisy makes more selfless life decisions and remains unhappy and lonely in a loveless marriage for most of the rest of the book, but don't despair, Susan Wiggs takes pity on her readers and gives us a happy ending to warm our hearts. I'll confess to being so depressed and sad halfway through the novel that I shamelessly read the ending to see if things got better for Daisy before continuing the book, something I almost never do. This book is an emotional roller coaster, and another great addition to a series I have loved.

Wow. All I can say is wow!
Like many others, I have been waiting for Daisy's story for a long time - since book 1 I think! This does not disappoint. You will not believe some of the twists and turns this story takes. I could not put it down - it keeps you hanging on until the very, very last page. What an amazing story Susan Wiggs has created for Daisy. WOW!

So glad to have the rest of Daisy's story! It's amazing how much Wiggs was able to get into this novel. That might be my only complaint though...towards the end a lot of time was passing and a lot of things were happening. At times it felt a little rushed. But all-in-all Daisy's story has finally been told and it was done in a believable and truly heartwarming way. Our roads are not always easy, but Daisy ultimately finds love when she follows her heart. Would love to know how her life continues. Hopefully this isn't the last we see of Daisy and Charlie!

I've been patiently waiting for this book for so long and.....I have to say I felt let down. BIG TIME! Daisy & Logan shoudl; have never did what they did...it would have been better if they had made them get close and leave it there....that being said, I was disappointed that the readers did not get to see Daisy & Julian happily ever after.

I just discovered Wiggs and I'm kind of getting scared that she is going to be an author that recycles characters and plotlines. I plan to read a few more of her books before I make the decision.

I loved the other I have read but I had a hard time with this one. It was slower and although I did cry it, the emotional connection wasn't there with the characters. It might also be that I really dislike Logan. Hated him from the beginning when I first read about him as a teenager. Daisy I loved and Julian I couldn't make up my mind. Even though Daisy ended with the guy I wanted the ending didn't really seem like much and was done so abruply. Nothing of their fears were resolved. It was a very simplistic. Kind of like Wiggs thought she was sick of this back and forth shuffling of the same information that went through the whole book and needed to slap an ending to it.

As much as I liked Daisy and Charlie, I don't think this book was worth it. And I hope Sonnet doens't turn into a carbon copy of Daisy's mother but it seems like she is heading there.

The first problem is that I started reading this book without understanding that there were seven stories prior to this one. Although the author writes with clarity for the reader to understand what is going on (and the critical prior history), I had to read previous reviews to better understand the conflict between Logan, Daisy, and Julian.

Second, contemporary stories are not my faves. However, I was desperate. I've been in a reading funk lately and was searching for something different to read. Third, I really don't like stories with children taking a major part in the story. Since I was listening to this tale (an audiobook), the person reading was a bit overdramatic (for my taste) and Joyce Bean's child's voice was really irritating.

Because I've read (and enjoyed) other books by this author, I decided to stick with this story. But stories that have a major character return after a suspected death, the author usually overwrites the story to wring the last drop of the drama out of the situation. I felt that happened here. By disk 4 (of 5 disks), I was beyond over this story.

Daisy is a character TSTL*, in my opinion. I didn't find anything about her with which I could identify. Daisy was written as a whinny, pathetic person. The only glimmer of intelligence was when she decided to "take time" to evaluate her life before moving on. What did Julian see in her?

A tear jerker a long time in the making. Nothing has ever been easy for Daisy Bellamy, even finding and keeping her one true love. We have had glimpses of Daisy's life throughout The Lakeshore series so it's wonderful to finally get to read her story.

i was so excited when this book came out because i had read all of susan wiggs' books but this was like she just was trying to tie up all the little details from her previous books and to me, so monotone. the only thing i really liked about it was the memories part that she has in alot of her books. maybe better luck next time...

I LIKE THE WAY SUSAN WIGGS WRITES HER STORIES WHERE SHE BRINGS HER CHARACTERS INTO OTHER BOOKS.I HAVE READ MOST OF HER BOOKS. I LOOK FOR HER NEW BOOKS OFTEN AND GET THEM AS SOON AS I CAN. THIS IS A RELLY GOOD STORY LINE.

This is the 8th book of THE LAKESHORE CHRONICLES. So far the last book in the series. Readers have been following Daisy since the 1st book "Summer at Willow Lake". This book is her love story between the love of her life and the father of her baby. Good story but I guess I am tired of the series for now, reading them all in a row. I do enjoy the small town storylines.

I think this was the best book of The Lakeshore Chronicles. It's quite a job to try to find someone who will marry Daisy. Excellent book. I could not put the book down once I started it.

Susan Wiggs dedicated this book to her readers for inspiring her to tell Daisy's story. I am so glad she did. She sent Daisy down a tumultuous path of love and heartache that will make you shed tears, I am sure, but you'll pull for Daisy all along the way. Absolutely loved it!

I was not disappointed in this suspense filled novel. It tugged at my heartstrings and kept me just about biting my nails at some points. Again, Susan Wiggs comes through.

I think I liked this one the best of this series so far. A lot of emotions with this one; keep the kleenex handy! Very surprising twists and turns; wasn't sure it was going to end the way I wanted it to. A great read.
