This book takes place in England, which is interesting for the fact it is outside the US and you get a feel for England and some of its everyday British vernacular. I liked this book a lot for its different story line, which takes place between Australia and England. It is touching, poignant, and quite humorous at times also.

This was a fun read, and well written. My first time for this author. I liked her. It is a love story, but not alot of mush that sometimes gets boring. Had just the right amount of twists and turns and laugh out loud moments, the kids are adorable. It is strong on family and friendship, choices and feelings. I liked this read alot.
I thought this was going to be a cute chick-lit book. I hadn't read any of those for awhile and was looking forward to this one. Both the cover and premise sound cute, "Kendra Tamale is looking for a fresh start and a simple life when she rents a room from Kyle Gadsborough" (from the front flap).
It was much more complicated than that and, actually, had the makings of something worthwhile EXCEPT for the way it was written. The main character, Kendra, is a victim but never moves on from it. She wants everyone to know how bad she's had it and be awarded for it somehow. Her whiny attitude became grating.
Koomson writes as if she's removed from her characters and is merely documenting what is happening to them, so we don't feel engaged either.
By the end of the book, I really didn't care what happened to them. The best part of the book was reminding me how much I enjoy marshmallows.

This book is slow. I was attracted to the mystery side of the book, but I'm nearly halfway though and the mystery part has barely shown itself.
Good story - I read this in 1 day.
