Warning - this has a cliff hanger ending. I HATE that. If I'd know, I would have waited for the release of Master of Smoke and just bought both of them then.

Good read, hot sex, but you really don't see much typing the h/h together except sex and location/profession. I'm guessing they might be further developed in the next book - as Smoke [who is the hero of the next book] was started in this one.

There is an ongoing series arc - books should really be read in order [although the short stories are not as involved with the main storyline as the novels.]

Angela Knight's Mageverse series; the story of Giada Shepherd, immortal witch, and Logan MacRoy, forensic chemist that investigates crimes, arson, and bombings, and the son of King Arthur. I was a little lost a few times b/c it's been so long since I read one, but it was just as good as all the rest. There was a good amount of action, suspense, and sex.

I have been a long time fan on Angela Knight and I was wondering if she would ever add to the Mageverse series. I was so excited to read this book when I found out that she had that I could hardly wait for it to arrive. I enjoyed this book, but it definitely was not nearly as good as her previous books in this series. I really liked both lead characters (Logan and Gaida), but it just seemed that the plot of this book was a bit rushed. However, the romance was hot and steamy which is typical of Knight.

Also I recommend that you read some of the previous Mageverse books before you read this one. It will be more interesting if you understood the concept better and had a feel for the Dire Wolves/Knights/Fae and their communities before reading this. Otherwise, the reader may feel like they are missing something.

This book ended in a bit of a cliff hanger, leading into the next story Master of Smoke. I expect that it will be a great read, and I can't wait to read it after all the ground work was laid in this book. There is a lot of build up in this book for Smoke! I can't wait until it comes out!

It was interesting to revisit the Mageverse series, it wasn't too long ago that Knight's was one of the few paranormal romance series out there - unlike today when there are so many series to choose from. Knight's book was more erotic than I'd remembered and I'll admit that the book hit pretty much all of my unfavorite sensual words and almost all of them in two back to back paragraphs, which likely is part of the reason that I didn't enjoy the book as much as other reviewers. Still it was pretty good and I found the supporting character who was a fae god disguised as a cat intriguing so Iam still tempted to check out the next book, Master of Smoke, where he takes centerstage.

The last book I read in this series was "Master of Smoke," which comes after this one. Otherwise it has been a while.

I liked this one quite a bit. I think for a while there it was the same premise over and over again. This one is slightly different in that both protagonists are aware of the paranormal world.

You do have to read at least one other book in the series to understand who and what everything is. Even what I write in this review will make any sense if you aren't familiar with the series.

I think the back-cover description is rather generic so I am including my own here. Logan is Arthur's son and is scared to become a vampire. His fear is that he would lose control and Arthur would have to kill him. Giada was sent to secretly guard him since there are baddies out there killing latents. She was ordered not to become involved with Logan and of course they get it on or else this would be a poor romance novel. So amidst all that they have to find the baddies and figure out what is going on.

It's a pretty fast paced book with some humor. The love scenes can be redundant in description although the when, where, and how are different. Overall it was a good read.
