This book was a beautiful story about an actress betrayed by her husband and mother. Both money hungry and conniving people forced her to continue acting when all she wanted to be was just herself. The night of a launch party she is confronted with the fact that her husband has been cheating on her with her assistant and that her mother knew all along. Max Hart, the money behind the show, intercedes and helps her disentangle herself from them. He's been waiting for this moment from the start, a means to have her all to himself. Only now he realizes that her family have been mentally and at times physically abusing her and his need to protect her becomes fierce. He wants to give her everything she's been denied, and that includes having choices.
Will her freedom cost him her love or will it bring them closer. Will he admit his need for her or will he let her slip away.
