The basic plot is fairly simple; an upstart, somewhat scatter brained matchmaker named Annabelle is trying to make a success of her grandmother's business. Ruthless, driven sports agent, Heath Champion (sort of his real name) is ready to make his next big move--to a perfect society wife. Annabelle's best friend is the wife of one Heath's pro athlete clients, so she arranges a meeting with Heath, sure that landing him as a client is the key to her company's success.

But none of Annabelle's plans are working out; begining with a dead body under her car, and then Heath has already signed with Power Matches, the most successfull matchmakers in Chicago. She gets him to agree to sign with her also, but of course Heath doesn't have any chemestry with his dates, and plenty of sparks with Annabelle. While some of the notes are predictable, it is still a fun journey. There are plenty of fun subplots, the pro football players, cute but possibly klepto children, and the elderly clients looking for love that Annabelle can't get rid of.

Heath also starts exploting Annabelle's friendship with a female NFL owner who hates him, and for once in this genre everyone sees through the ruse. There is also a number of wonderfull secondary characters, many of whome are featured in other stories. These characters all seem like multi-deminsional people, no cardboard cutouts here. There are a few weak moments, like when Heath meets Annabelle's overachieving family. But all in all the book is worth a read

I listened to this book on audio and it ROCKED! The reader is Anna Fields (Real Name Kate Fleming) and has since passed away. I have not heard a better reader of audiobooks. She brings books to life and has the ability to bring a 3 book to a 5.

That wasn't the case with Match Me if you Can. This book was incredible. Heath and Anabellle first start off all business, then friends, then to much more. It's a cute, fun story and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's on the AAR top 100's list and it deserves to be there. Although it's part of the Chicago Star's series, I don't believe you need to read them in order, I haven't and I didn't feel lost at all. Great secondary characters, not one complaint for this book, it's EVERYTHING I want in a book!

Very witty! Another in the Calebow Chicago Star's background. This time it's a very funny situation full of flirty wit and banter. I highly recommend this one...one of her better romantic comedies!

The opening paragraph of this novel hooked me so well that I knew I'd finish it despite the fact that I normally don't like contemporary Romances. It's crisp and unusual and funny. The characterization is wonderful. I loved the characters, particularly the heroine. And the characters grow throughout the story so that at the end, they are definitely changed for having met. This was the first SEP book I ever read and it made me want to read all of her novels.

You have to love Susan ELizabeth Philliphs hip, and witty books. Match Me If You Can is fun and sophisticated. Annabelle inherits her Nana's matchmaking business. Annabelle is quirky, but smart and she knows what she wants. She is hired by Heath (number one bachelor) to find him a wife. Things, of course, get complicated. This book celebrates love in all seasons and weaves a solid group of women who are friends-who stick. You are going to love tis fast read!!!

Fun story. Usual Susan Elizabeth Phillips. One in a series of stories about the Chicago Stars football team. Fun romance with witty characters and dialog. Should be read after: It had to be you, Heaven Texas, and Nobody's Baby But Mine. As they fall in order.

It's been a long wait for another SEP book featuring the Chicago Stars, but in this case, it was definitely worth it!

MATCH ME IF YOU CAN centers around Heath Champion, alpha of alphas sports agent who has hired two different matchmaking companies to find him the perfect wife. He hasn't had time to furnish his home, never mind the time to exert a lot of energy into finding the perfect woman.

One of the matchmakers he's hired is Annabelle Granger, who took over her grandmother's old-fashioned business after her death. She's turned it into Perfect For You, and she needs to succeed in finding Heath a wife to get her business on the map.

What follows, of course, is a wacky, laugh-out-loud story revolving around Heath and his search for a perfect woman who just doesn't exist; Annabelle's search to find independence and self-suffiency away from her meddling parents and brothers; the downfall of Portia Powers, who runs rival Power Matches; and the salvation of Bodie, Heath's right-hand man. Interspersed with characters from previous SEP books such as Dan & Phoebe Calebow, Kevin & Molly Tucker and their adorable daughter Pippi, and other past and present Stars players add to the fun of MATCH ME IF YOU CAN.

The ending is predictable, of course, when Heath realizes that his perfect match is Annabelle. But the getting there is well worth reading, and the last chapter or so is a tear-jerker.

Pick up a copy today--you definitely won't be disappointed!

Annabelle has taken over her grandmothers match making business and is determined to land the Windy City's hottest bachelor as her client. Heath is looking for the perfect wife. Can a red-headed screw-up like Annabelle find her for him? Good light hearted romance.

Picked this up at a booksale when looking for some light summer reading. I recognized the author's name as being frequently listed as a "favorite". Originally out in 2005, it's not new but boy was it an enjoyable read. The characters have so much chemistry, the sparks almost jump off the pages, and this is true with secondary players too. I hated having to put it down and finished it in 2 reads. Basically, "almost" self-actualized male looking for perfect wife hires local matchmaker. It's set in contemporary Chicago and has a sports theme as I guess a lot of her books do. The dialogue is fast, witty, and very entertaining - made me smile, a lot. I liked these people. If you need a break from headier literature this is the answer.

Grade: A-

Match Me if You Can is the sixth book in Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars series. Annabelle Granger is desperate to land Heath Champion as a client for her new match making company, Perfect for You. With such a prestigious client, her new company will be sure to succeed and in doing so will get her family off her back. She is basically the black sheep in the family. Heath Champion is a very well known sports agent who is as ruthless as he is handsome. He is looking for a wife and has unrealistic expectations of the type of woman he is ready to settle down with. Annabelle has her work cut out for her if she is to be successful in finding him his perfect match.

I had a lot of fun listening to Match Me if You Can. First of all the narrator Anna Fields does an excellent job of getting the humor just right. She is able to use really good inflection when delivering those zingers. There is a lot of really great dialogue between Annabelle and Heath. These two go back and forth throughout the book and readers who love a lot of banter between the hero and heroine are going to really enjoy this book.

I loved Annabelle. She is my kind of heroine. She is funny, smart and completely driven and focused. She was a little insecure but it was only a small part of her character. Heath too was an excellent match for her. He is just as driven, funny and smart. He too has his own little insecurities to get over. I thought this was a great read with many memorable scenes. The dialogue is fantastic and is chock full of rich characters. I even found the secondary love story between Portia and Bodey a treat. Two thumbs up. I highly recommend it.

There was something wonderful about Annabelle Granger, the book's main character that had me rooting for her the whole time despite the somewhat corny storyline. I really enjoy Susan Elizabeth Phillips and found this title to be fun and entertaining. I truly cared about the characters.

Same plot through the series: boy is on top of his game but lacks decency meets girl low of the totem pole. Girl learns her worth, boy gains a heart. So don't read it because the plot is amazing, because it's not. Read it because it's silly and the cast of characters are all a bit crazy. The dialogue is fun and the situations are off-beat.

My only problem with this book is Annabelle's insistent on keeping Heath as a client. Seems like when professional boundaries were crossed, she should have backed out. But Phillips excels in making her characters do dumb things and yet make them endearing.

The latest in the Chicago Stars series (It Had To Be You; Heaven, Texas; Nobody's Baby But Mine; Dream a Little Dream; and This Heart of Mine).

"Shark" agent Heath Champion decides he needs a trophy "perfect" wife as the ultimate symbol of success. As a favor to the wife of his star quarterback, he hires "screwup" matchmaker Annabelle Granger to find him one. The fun begins as Annabelle parades prospective "brides" before him.

Contains many of the characters from earlier books in the series as well as introducing the lead character for the next book in the series.

After taking over her Grandmother's matchmaking business, Annabelle decides if she lands the city's hottest bachelor as her client, she'll be the most sought-after matchmaker in town. Wealthy, driven, and gorgeous, Heath Champion is one of the best sports agents in the country. He believes its time he found the perfect wife, but doesn't have time to search between meeting with clients and negotiating contracts. He has already signed with one matchmaking service. Wouldn't two give him twice the chance of finding the right woman?

This is the sixth book in Phillips' Chicago Stars Football series. Phillips has written fantastic multi-dimensional characters. The dialogue is smart and sarcastic. I laughed out loud at some of the hero and heroine's conversations. There is also a secondary romance that just adds depth to the story. I read this book several years ago when it was first published. This time I listened to the audio. The narration by Anna Fields was outstanding. My rating: 5 Stars.
