I think the writing was good but I didn't enjoy the plot or characterizations. The protagonist was extremely naive. This story is present time and she didn't know a single person with a cell phone or know how to use one?
People just aren't that isolated, especially those that work in a court house.
Just could not finish it. Too folksy for me.

Loved this - finished it in one day. A nice departure from traditional chick lit. Very heartfelt.

The old adage "be careful what you wish for" gets new life in Cochran's sweet, funny debut. Life in tiny Pinecob, West Virginia, takes a turn for the wacky when Hollywood heartthrob Joshua Reed, nailed with another DUI, is forced to spend 90 days of house arrest in the home of a local fan. (Leanne Gitlin, 25, has loved Joshua since she was 15 and led his fan club for eight years.) For the Gitlins, this means TV cameras, drunken fans undressing on their lawn and an overdose of Joshua's bad attitude. The plot's a bit far-fetched, but that's just part of the fun in this poignant, gently comic story about growing up and moving on.
Reminded me a little of the film Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!, except I sobbed through the last three chapters. ("Poignant," indeed!) I loved this book.

a cute book that got frustrating in some parts but overall, good.
It was .. nice.
Red Dress Ink seems to have more misses for me than hits (somehow true chick-lit tends to leave me wondering if there was a plot somewhere and I missed it), but this one really worked for me. The main character, Leanne, is not another latte swilling city girl, climbing the corporate ladder (quickly or badly), having bad sex, and wishing she were still in college. Leanne and her family are much more real and completely different from those characters, which was a very refreshing change! I liked her and could really see how a person could end up in her situation. Was Joshua Reed's time with their family realistic? Possibly not, but it made for an interesting story!
Cute little romance warns about the perils of getting what you wish for.
So far this is in my top 3 books I have ever read. I loved everything about this book. Storylines like the one in this book are my favorite. I couldn't put this book down. I read it in a couple of days.
Awesome book! The story is excellent and the author does a great job of telling. A must-read and definitely one of the best I've read!
Great chick lit!
Very good read! Found it hard to put down.
Cochran writes such great characters! They are just like the people you know - offbeat, quirky, fallible...I could go on. It was a wonderful first novel and if you enjoyed it at all, read her 2nd, The Return of Jonah Gray.
I can't wait to see what else she comes up with!

She's got Hollywood's next leading man under her roof. And she can't wait for him to leave.
Prepping for his new movie in the tiny town of Pinecob, West Virginia, up-and-coming actor Joshua Reed lands himself another drunk-driving conviction, this time involving a stolen limo, a dark country road and a cow. Rather than let him rot in jail for the summer, twenty-five-year-old Leanne Gitlin, his fan club president, agrees to vouch for him so he can serve out his sentence under house arrest. In her home.
But playing the gracious guest isnt in Joshua Reeds repertoire. And while everyone in town is thinking up excuses to drop by the Gitlin house, Leanne quickly finds herself counting the days until her famous visitor leaves.
Leanne, the youngest of five, watched her family fall apart and dutifully stayed put to help her mother pick up the pieces. Stuck in Pinecob all these years, she was itching for something new, but Joshua Reeds media circus isnt quite what she had in mind.
