Mary Higgins Clark has always been an enjoyable read. Called "Queen of Suspense", her books are usually light but good and a quick, easy read. This one lacks much suspense, it is slow moving until the last chapter. It was just okay.
I guess I'm a late bloomer but I just discovered Mary Higgins Clark about 6 months ago. This book is the best I've read so far and there is not a bad book in her list. This books builds and builds upon the story as you read about each character and how they interact with someone else. She is such a great author of suspense without the customary blood and guts that so many murder mystery authors depend on. Even though I've read many of her books so far and usually always figure the plot and who done it, I can never do it with hers. Just when you figure that you've got the clues figured out, she comes from the other side with a completely different scenario. You're always shocked at the outcome because you never saw it coming. This is one that you can't put down. Excellent, excellent writing. I loved it !
Yes, I did enjoy the book. I like how Mary Higgins Clark writes so that you want to continue reading her stories. I've missed a few of hers, so now I'm going back to find them. I notice in this book she doesn't have the normal beginning but leads you all the way through to the dramatic ending.
This was an ok book. Sometimes slow in parts. Not a lot of action.
