I'm looking for suggestions for memoirs on both anxiety and OCD. The only memoir I've read about either of these topics is Devil in the Details by Jennifer Traig. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm not interested in self-help books. |

The Quiet Room: A Journey Out of the Torment of Madness by Amanda Bennett and Lori Schiller is an excellent book. Lori suffered from schizophrenia as well as other disorders, and it was an interesting look into the attitude towards, and treatment of, those will mental illness. |

Not sure if this is the kind of book you have in mind, but I am in the middle of Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me by Howie Mandel. He has both OCD and ADHD, and is very wacky and exceedingly hyper to boot, but his book is laugh-out-loud funny and also surprisingly poignant. These issues rule his life no matter the surrounding circumstances. It's also fascinating to learn how he achieved his career by totally following whims and larks, simply by possessing the guts (or foolishness?) to try every time a chance was offered. I am finding, very unexpectedly, that I can't put this book down.
