While I was reading this, I kept wondering why the heroine wanted to be with this guy. This one kept me away from Macalister's contemps. I'll stick to her paranormals.

Anything Katie MacAlister writes is an autobuy for me. Her books are clever and funny and Men in Kilts is no exception

I didn't like this as much as I'd hoped. Kathie was very annoying, and the "bad guys" - Bridget and Archie -- were too venomous to make this the light-hearted comic romance I was axpecting.

Loved this book!! I am a big Katie MacAlister fan, and this book is a cute, fast, laugh-out-loud read. Katie took a 'fairy tale' romance and made it 100% believable, as in, "Hey, it COULD happen this way!"

I love this book. It is so funny and has a good dose of drama in it. This was my first time reading a Katie Macalister book but it will not be my last. I have just added her to my list of favorite authors.

Katie MacAlister is a hoot to read! Must be her Celtic lineage (if indeed that's her name) because she writes with the humor and candor of one close to the knot. Fun book.

This book was hysterical and at times, verra, verra steamy. Whew. I loved it and found myself laughing out loud many times. I'm sure every girl dreams of traveling to a foreign country and falling in love with a gorgeous hunk like Iain. Lots of local history and scenery descriptions of the Scottish highlands. Lots of hilarity, some mystery but mostly a romantic love story. Highly recommend it.

Good book! Funny book with some great scenes it in. Overall I have read better books in this category of books, but this is well worth the read. It's a light fun read. Go for it!

it was very funny...its about this scot who meets this American girl while shes at a book conference in England. They imediatly fall in lov- wait not love but lust...and then hes takin her home to his sheep farm in Scottish Highlands, where trouble awaits them...

I really had to trudge through this book. I was working my way backwards from some of Katie's more recent publication, and found this one was not quite in their category. It got way too mired down in the details, in the story, and missed a lot of the easy to find humor I expect from her in her more recent works. So I'm putting it back up for trade. Not worth keeping.

oh god, I never thought sheep farming was was horrendously hilarious. yes, the wee lambs are slaughtered, and quite likely there is no silence to be had, but then there are the lives and hearts of those who tend to them... Scot, American, what have you. he he!

Scotland sheep farmer Iain MacLaren likes reading mysteries so it makes sense that his adult sons would gift him with a trip to England to a mystery writer's conference with a chance to meet his favorite authors. American mystery author Kathie Williams has never been to England so she jumps at the chance to attend a mystery writers' conference there. Kathie is taken with Iain's burly good looks, wooly sweater and thick Scottish brogue and he is charmed by her. When he invites her to visit his sheep farm in the Scottish Highlands and meet his family (a dour and unfriendly son, a nice welcoming son and his new wife, a too friendly ex-girlfriend who also is Iain's closest neighbor, and a weird ex-wife), Kathie is elated. When their mad affair deepens and lasts, Kathie gets to learn all about sheep including delivering lambs and Iain gets to meet her wacky American family...all who keep asking why doesn't Iain wear a kilt and what do they wear under those things anyway! A sexy and funny book.

Unless you want to learn about herding sheep I would say "SKIP IT!" I can LOVE Katie MacAlister's newer books, but this early one was sub par.

A YUMMY CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE, MacAlister usually dips into the supernatural so I didn't know she could keep it straight but her men brawny. Yummy!

I could not finish this book. Not even past the fifth chapter. God awful is the pharse that comes to mind. PLEASE someone take this off my hands. My uterus quivered???? That's an actual quote from this book. Maybe I am beyond frothy romances, but I know there are people out there that love this type of read. This book is definately up for grabs.

It started out good, but it became so mundane that I just couldn't finish the last several chapters. I normally like all of Katie MacAlister's books. This one just didn't do that for me.

i just dont understand how an author can right really funny fully thought through books like sex and the single vampire and even vampires get the blues and then write these stupid books about modern women and modern men who are so vain and vapid and concerned with their weight! THe plot trods along and by page 15 it was a challenge to turn the page and keep reading, i was always really happy when i hit a new chapter cuz it meant i could put the book down for the day, ugh skip all her books like this and focus on her paranormal books they are way worth while.

It was a sweetie if you go for the Bridgety-Jones (though much easier to read) story line. Fun. Made me want to move overseas and find a lovely Scottish laird of my own.

The book started out well and I did laugh at some instances, but the heroine just became too annoying.

Humorous fun with a plot that is pure fantasy for any girl who loves Scotland and that mouth watering brogue! The heroine was the downside. Oh my goodness, she cried over everything! When someone said something rude, she sobbed. When she was embarrassed, she sobbed. When she was afraid she sobbed (could go on in finite um!) These were not just little trickle tears, either, they were air gulping drown your shirt gully whoppers! If not for her sense of humor, this book would have hit the (fire) wall.

Mystery writer Kathie Williams goes to a conference and meets up with and moves in with a sexy, Scottish sheepfarmer. A whirlwind romance has her wondering where things are headed, as he makes no moves towards marriage. Coping with his grown sons, a trouble causing, jealous ex-girlfriend, and cultural differences, it makes for fun reading. Kathie's character is funny and quirky and the things she thinks and says make you laugh outloud.

Bit of a different romance. Love without measure to be sure and some great love scenes. Laughs a-plenty, but some sorrow and angst as well. Just one more reason to keep reading Macalister.

it wasn't as good as the corset diaries. The heroine is a bit childish for a 37 year old woman, she didn't seem real to me. I ended up skimming through some of it.

Katie MacAlister rocks! Kathie Williams (American) meets Irishman Iain MacLaren at a writers conference, and instantly they.. connect. He is a sheep farmer, and she is not. Raises the important question: What do Irishmen wear under their kilts? :)
