This was the second book I read by Tess Gerritsen and I have to say well done. The book was intriguing from beginning to end and full of twists. I really enjoyed this book and I love her writing style. Both her books that I read were fast reads and easy to follow the story lines but still exciting and intriguing. Character developements were well written and enjoyable characters. I really look forward to reading more of her books. I recommend this author and this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery/suspense.

Very different for Gerritsen - more metaphysical than physical, meaning the evidence is not so much involved in the dead bodies as usual but in the live ones still walking aroung. Was a great read. If you have read the other Gerritsen books, then will see all the characters are true to form. Great relationsip between Maura and Jane as always.

This is an action packed psychological novel about the analysis of evil. Following a series of grisly murders, a police detective, a medical examiner, and a strange, very wealthy group of scholars who study religious symbolism and historical data, join forces. Strong characters challenge each other's deeply held beliefs as they struggle to understand and stop the evil killer in their midst while dealing with their own personal relationships.

Another hit for Gerritsen and her characters of Detective Jane Rizzoli and M.E. Laura Isles. I'm looking forward to the next one.

First Tess Gerritsen I've read. Loved the mystery as to who the murderer was. Jane Rizzoli is a great character and will look for more from this author. This was one that I had a hard time putting down.

It amazes me that Tess Gerritsen is able to write such awesome thrillers, time after time. And yet she does, proving that she is, quite simply, at the top of her game--and at the top of the psychological thriller/mystery genre!
Many others have outlined the plot of THE MEPHISTO CLUB, so let me just say a few things: this is a great storyline, original, and handled deftly. The action-adventure is non-stop throughout the book, and although you know, basically from the beginning of the story, who the bad guy is, it doesn't stop the book from being interesting and intriguing.
I loved that Father Brophy and Dr. Maura Isles finally "got together," but I need this relationship to go beyond THE THORN BIRDS!! There has got to be a resolution to this plot line, and soon!
My only complaint with the story is Jane Rizzoli, who I actually love. However, her hard-a**, morally superior attitude in this book ticked me off. I want to see the softer side of Jane, the nurturing mother side, the love of Gabriel's life side--as well as the the tough-as-nails, ball-buster homicide detective.
Believe me, though, THE MEPHISTO CLUB is another winner!

This book is part of the ongoing Jane Rizzoli book line. I have not read any previous Rizzoli books and felt somewhat lost when things from the past were mentioned. Although I would recommend reading previous books to understand past details this story does stand alone. Not reading previous books did not detract from this book or its story.
this book was very good, kept me guessing clear to the end who was doing the killing and still wasn't sure till the last chapter.
The best Rizzoli/Isles book yet. Finished it in a few days because I couldn't put it down!
One of my favorite authors. Always a good read. This time the protagonist is kind of creepy. A really good book.
Absolutely intriguing! I would highly recommend reading.
different alright.
Great book, I read all of Tess Gerritsen. One of my favorite Authors
Tess is an exceptional forensic writer! Details are immense and they drag you through the emotions of the character! So much so that there were points when I had to put it down because I nearly got sick.
This was a great read. I found it different, suspenseful, and fascinating. Hard to put down.
excellent read with a great ending.
The Mephisto club tries to prove that Satan exists among us.

A very fast paced book, read it in one day and didn't want to put it down, it is a little DaVinci Code with the normal Tess Gerritsen thriller, gotta love the characters and their interactions in this book seem more raw and real in this one than the others, a must read

A great read - a real chiller, mystery-thriller! Not for the faint of heart.
Not my favorite by this author but all other books I've read by her have been well worth it.
Really enjoyed this book. Fast read. A real page turner.
This was a strange story, but very entertaining. Will not be re-posting it as 2 of the disc's skipped a lot. However if anyone is entertaining ideas of getting it, I would recommend it for a long ride.
I just love the Rizzoli and Isles book series. I have read them all now except for the newest, and am holding back on that one, knowing there aren't any more after it. I have a little trouble watching the series, as the characters are more evolved in the books.

Excellent character development. Enough suspense to keep you reading without wanting to put it down. Plenty of twists and in the end, you are surprised by the climax.
This is an absolutely excellant book. I've recently been introduced to Ms. Gerritsen, and I must say, the novels I've read so far have been captivating.
Action packed, entertaining and compulsively readable. Very powerful story that will haun you long after the last page is turned. A tense, taute thriller that grabs readers from the get-go and never lets up.
Very Enjoyable!!!

On Christmas morning, a young woman is murdered and dismembered. Medical Examiner Maura Isles and Detective Jane Rizzoli quickly link the murder to Psyhicatrist Joyce O'Donnell, a member of the Mephisto Club...a club that devotes itself to the analysis of evil. But when another murder occurs on the doorstep of the club, the members begin to suspect that they are the real target.
This is a dark psychological mystery which touches on satanic possession, secret societies and celibacy in the church. The plot seemed a little slow in the middle of the book. I just wanted to get through all of the mythology and historical data and learn who the murderer was. Definitely not a favorite in the series. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

Another excellent thriller from Gerritsen
A good book, suspenseful. I wouldn't say it was on par with some of her earlier novels in the character development, but still a good read.

After not being wild about her last book "Vanish", I was pleased with this one. Outstanding!
Powerful and haunting. If you like pager turner burners, this is one
From the cover: The Latin phrase is scrawled in blood at the scene of a young woman's brutal murder: I HAVE SINNED. It's a chilling Christmas greeting for Boston Medical examiner Maura Isles and Detective Jane Rizzoli, who swiftly link the victim to controversial celebrity psychiatrist Joyce O'Donnell-Jane's professional nemesis and member of a sinster cabal called the Mephisto Club. On tony Beacon Hill, the club's acolytes devote themselves to the analysis of evil: Can it be explained by science? Does it have a physical presence? Do demons walk the earth? Drawing on a wealth of dark histroical data and mysterious religious symbolism, the Mephisto scholars aim to prove a startling theroy: that Satan hinmself exists among us. With the grisly appearance of a corpse on their doorstep, it's clear that someone or something is inded prowling the city. Soon the members of the club begin to fear the very subject of their study. Could this maniacal killer be one of their own-or have they inadvertently summoned an evil entity from the darkness? Delving deep into the most baffling and unusual case of their careers, Maura and Jane embark on a terrifying journey to the very heart of evil, where they encounter a malevolent foe more dangerous than any they have ever faced.........one whose work is just beginning
Absolutely a page-turner! Just loved it!
This book was a page-turner! One of her better ones. Deals somewhat with the occult.
Loved this book!! Have already ordered another from this author, could not put it down.
Gruesome, but she's an excellent writer. The ending took me completely by surprise...

another great T. Gerritson book!!!
This a real page turner...unable to put this book down. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
OK Read. It's entertaining, but too cliche. You have the mysterious murders, the secret club, and the feisty detective (to whom I could not warm up at all). Plus you have a bit of the supernatural thrown in.
Another great read from Gerritsen with the fabulous Jane Rizzoli character! Very scary and very exciting!
Ooooh so good - a must read. Interesting and different storyline than any other I've read. A quick read that leaves you thinking long after you've closed the pages - while trying to sleep . . .
I didn't want to put it down!
My wife watches a great deal of television. She discovered Rizzoli & Isles on TNT. We started watching it and liked it. As usual, I then looked up the author of the books upon which it is based. I ordered the first one from Paper Back Swap. I liked it and proceeded to put together the entire series. Each book has an interesting twist, or several. As a retired police sergeant, detective, corporal, and patrolman, I have had the opportunity to interview some psychopaths and I find Gerritsen's villains to be believable. If you like mysteries, these books will satisfy. I particularly liked this book and found myself wishing that she would start a new series about the Mephisto Club.
Loved this one! I was back and forth on my conclusions all the way to the end. In addition to being a good read, it was thought provoking.

A little graphic but a good story
Another good book by Tess Gerritsen. There were times I couldn't follow some of the info but overall, I'd recommend to anyone.
Another good read by this author-I enjoy all her books.
I loved the series Rizzoli and Isles on television and the books. I read the first five quickly and was engrossed in them from the start and continued until the end. The book, however, was far fetched and was hard to get through. I finished it but was frustrated that the author had to go a different route with the murder and the mystery. I am reading The Keepsake, book 7, and I am loving it so far. She grabbed me from the first page and hasn't let go yet.
I enjoy reading most of Tess Gerritsen books and this was no Exception. I loved the story and almost found myself believing the unreal.
Different from some of her first titles, but well written and a good leisure read.
Gerritsen tells a good story.
