Gruesome and gory with plot twists a plenty. Shocking surprise ending. Everything a good serial killer/police procedural/thriller is supposed to be. Great read!

Awesome! This is the best murder mystery that I've read in a very long time. I was convinced that I knew who the serial killer was about 2/3 of the way through the book, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Very thrilling and intelligent.
The most terrifing thriller since the Silence of the Lambs.

This book is a debut effort from this author, but you certainly can't tell! He writes this thriller like a seasoned pro. I have not read a book this gripping and exciting in a long time.
The crime scenes are gory, the back story of the main character is incredibly interesting and damning at the same time, and the killer is one of the scariest I've read.
I will definitely be on the lookout for works from this author in the future.

Engrossing story about a religious serial killer. Interesting, credible premise; excellent sub-plot. Pretty graphic, but not gory - just enough to give you chills. The ending isn't your usual good guy gets bad guy which made the book all the more interesting. The author doesn't leave any loose ends (thank you!). Hard to put down!

It's a good book, but this time around it seemed like the timing was kind off... at least in some of the age differences... well, I guess it does work, but it definitely stopped me from reading to do the math. Anyways, it is a good book, and though I have never read anything else by him, I am definitely interested in doing so. This is a book that I have recommended to mystery-lovers before, and I will continue to do so. I mostly just love how everything does fit together.

Scotland Yard's Redfern Metcalfe "gets inside killers' heads and reels them in." But Britain's latest serial killer (an evil genius dubbed "Silver Tongue" for his grisly technique and distinctive "calling card") is the worst Red's ever seen, leaving the hardened investigator shaken to his core. While Red and his hand-picked team of detectives concoct half-baked theories and chase shadows, the elusive Silver Tongue taunts them by racking up victims. With no forensic evidence to go on, Red is forced to play an excruciating game of "wait and see" with the killerAsending his personal and professional life into a downward spiral. Starling's debut sustains a sense of fear and uneasiness by seamlessly moving between Red's increasing obsession with the manhunt and his haunting memories of guilt-inducing past misdeeds. When it seems the case is close to resolution, Starling manages to step up the already considerable tension, and the simultaneous story lines dramatically and unexpectedly converge.

A very scary thriller about a serial killer.
Very exciting. What a page turner. Scared the daylights out of me.
Great book. A real page turner. Keeps you guessing who the murderer is up until the very end.
"The killer's good....the best I've ever seen"
The first victime was found hanging from a rope. The second, beaten to death in a pool of blood. The third, decapitated. Their personal backgrounds were as different as the methods of their murders. But one chilling detail linked all of their murders. The local police have enough evudence to beleive they were witnessing a rare - and disturbing -phenomenom: The making of a serial killer....
"He'll kill again."
Investigator Red Metcalfe has made national headlines with his uncanny gift for tracking killers. Getting inside their heads. Feeling what they feel. He knows what makes them tick. But not this time. The killers methods and motives are so elusive, so brillant, that Red is forced to search the darkest corners of his own soul - and face the guiltiest secrets of his past - to see the truth. Serial killer thriller
This deserves a high rating, it is very well written, however I do think is too long and would've been better if condensed down about 50-100 pages, but it is complicated story to tell, I didn't have a clue until nearly the end and that's great writing!
Pretty good whodunit, police procedural, serial killer story. A little long, but everything all comes together in the end.
