Liv Green, married mother of two university age sons, is working three jobs to help make ends meet. She often escapes into a good book to escape. Her third job is as a maid to a famous, but reclusive, (Essie) author of a series Liv has loved since she was a girl. Unexpectedly, Essie slowly begins to hold short conversations with Liv. What ensues is an interesting, fun turn of events that leads to an unexpected connection. I really enjoyed this book, but at times questioned Liv's actions.

A bookcase on the cover. A book about life. A book about book people. I was sold based on the cover and title alone of The Messy Lives of Book People by Phaedra Patrick. The book proves to be a middle age version for coming of age story â a journey of self discovery that allows family paradigms to be reinvented and reminds us that dreams are always possible. While somewhat far-fetched and neatly packaged at the end, the book is a lighthearted, easy read.
