A great read - it gives us what we're paying for when we buy Quick/Krentz/Castle novels: Tightly plotted stories with great suspense, characters you want to know, and cameos and references to characters you already know.
The order is complicated - really, really complicated.

The third of the Dreamlight series embedded in the Arcane series is great! It combines a 'Ghosthunter Guild' head, Adam Winters, with an Arcane Society 'J&J' head, Marlowe Jones, a dreamlight reader, on planet Harmony with a bunch of dust bunnies. The Lamp has been stolen again, but Adam told Marlowe that the one Arcane had was a fake! It had been stolen several times over the centuries, and the Winters family had decided that it was safest it they kept track of it, and gave a fake to the Society. Of course, the family often lost it anyhow.
Adam has discovered an area of mirrors he believes powers the planet, but whose currents seem to be distorting. He needs Marlowe to help him use the Lamp to correct the currents and keep the planet from exploding.
There's also the fact that someone is trying to kill him. He suspects two council members, one of whom had hoped for the position of head of the guild.
The plot is complex, but I read it in one session! I've read all the Arcane and Harmony books and enjoyed the tie-ins that the author made.
Even if you've not read any of the previous books, you'll still enjoy this book if you like mystery, paranormal powers, romance, and dust bunnies!

As far as conclusions to a series go this one was a major disappointment. The characters were not lovable like in her other books. I did not get behind feeling for Marlowe. I felt a lot of passages were a repeat of something I had previously read. It definitely was not the worst book I have read, but felt most of the book was forced and contrite.

Usually Jayne plops you right into the action from the first page, but this one takes a long time to crank up. As far as conclusions to a series go this one was a disappointment. What makes JAK books so interesting are the witty characters and the new aspects of the fantasy world that each book uncovers. The characters here were not lovable or as in-depth like in her other books. I felt a lot of passages were a repeat of something I had previously read.
But after the other Harmony novels, which are a delight, this one is a clunker. Don't get me wrong--a subpar Krentz novel is still better than many others.

This book was the third book in the Dreamlight Trilogy, the 9th in the Arcane Society series, and the 7th in the Harmony Series. It was however hard to follow for someone who started the Series at the Fired Up the first in the Dreamlight Series. I'd never read another of her Jayne Castle books (Harmony Series) before and I felt that I missed stuff and had a hard time following. It was another cute funny paranormal for the Dreamlight trilogy though I loved the little Dust Bunny.

Awesome!! Lots of action among characters. Vivid paranormal interactions. This is back to her usual very fast-paced high-level actions. I almost didn't read it bec/so disappointed in the Burning Lamp!!

Like all Jayne Ann Krentz books, it was wonderful. Fast paced with characters that engage and interest the reader. I would recommend this book to anyone.
