A new Jack Reacher novel is always a treat, and this is one of the best so far.
Reacher is wandering around, like he always does, and happens upon a West Point class ring in a pawnshop. As a former MP, he understands that the ring was not earned easily and not likely to be pawned, so he decides to return the ring to its rightful owner. The size of the ring indicates that it belonged to a woman, and no Reacher story is complete without an intelligent and strong female heroine.......
What follows is an excellent mystery, with the six against one fight scenes and always a step ahead thinking Lee Child fans have come to expect. I don't want to give away too much of the story, so suffice it to say that The Midnight Line has a lot of heart as well as action.

Jack Reacher's 22nd adventure shows no signs of this excellent series slowing down. This was Reacher at his most appealing...being out on the road alone and coming upon something or a set of circumstances that need his attention. In this case, Reacher finds in a pawn shop a West Point ring from 2005 that because of its small size, obviously belonged to a woman. Reacher knows that this is something that would not easily be parted with after all it took to earn. So he decides to track down who it belonged to and why it ended up in the pawn shop. This leads him from Wisconsin to Rapid City, South Dakota, and then to the wilderness of Wyoming near Laramie. Along the way he has to deal with an assortment of baddies including bikers, security muscle, and crooks involved in the illegal distribution of opiates. He also gets involved with a cop and a private eye in Rapid City who appear to be on the same track as Reacher. This eventually leads Reacher to the ring's owner but at what cost? What could have been so bad that she would have sold her ring? This was another compelling read in the Reacher series that I would highly recommend and I'll be looking forward to the next one.
Jack Reacher has become arguably the most iconic fictional hero we have! Reacher gets off a bus, and Child lands on the New York Times bestseller list! Loved it! Highly recommend!

Another great, page-turning entry in the series; especially a good read for Veteran's Day weekend (when I was lucky enough to read it).
Jack Reacher always has his motivations. This time it was a ring found in a pawnshop, which leads him on his newest adventure. For a change, he's not alone in his mission, and actually teams up well with other people. A good page turner.
Best Reacher story in a while! I love the standard elements, especially the way Reacher deducts behavior and situations from only a few little clues, his peripatetic lifestyle, his elevated sense of honor, his single-mindedness when he fixates on a goal and his capacity for out-bullying just about anyone who threatens him. Here the plot moves along swiftly and interestingly, as well. A truly delicious read.
Not one of his best Jack Reacher books, seemed to be a lot of repeating and too many characters and not enough of the Jack Reacher we all love, I thought the story was lame and at times very dull
I really enjoyed this Reacher book, some of the recent ones have made me think that the character had become more of a Superman, then a real man, but this book brought him back. Good characters in this one, recommend.
Lee Child comes through with another up-to-date, page turning thriller. Don't start reading until you have time to finish it.
Excellent. Great travel through the upper Midwest, and typical Reacher: in your face, get results.
great Jack Reacher story
The premise on which this books is based, ie. finding the owner of a small woman's West Point ring that he found in a Pawn Shop, is really stretching things. Finding the past owner of ANY ring simply is not so important to cause any person to traipse all over the country, risking life and limb. Book themes should be based on something remotely possible. All that being said, I still love my Jack!
There's nothing I like better than a new Reacher book! It starts with him finding a female West Point ring in a Pawn Shop. He decides to try to find out who the woman was and why it was pawned . An interesting premise to a good plot.
There were unbelievable visuals that bothered me after he finally met the woman he was seeking, was he really that horny? Most of the characters were humdrum and the plot was lacking the action I've come to expect. I was even bored some of the time!
Three stars from me because, after all it IS a Reacher book, but I hope the next one will be more inspiring.
