If you haven't read Joan Aiken yet you are in for a treat. I recommend any of her books to readers who liked the series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, but are ready for better writing. Midnight is a Place is NOT part of the terrific Wolves of Willoughby Chase series - but still contains action, suspense, melodrama, orphans in distress and will keep a reader on the edge of his/her seat.
