Savannah Wilde is returning to her hometown for a 2 month sabbatical after a threat is made against her. She is going to clean up the home she grew up in and prepare it for sale. She hasnt been home in 10 years and the reason is the new Chief of Police and her first love, Zach Tanner.

Zach Tanner is dealing with a town vandal and petty crime when the girl he let go comes back to town. She needs his protection but its the perfect excuse to get close again.

I am really on the fence with this book. The content isnt lacking in anyway, nor is the writing. Where I think this book lost stars for me is in the editing. The first 72 pages focus on things that happened when Savannah was 10, then when she was 18. I dont mind a chapter or two visiting memory lane, but this was excessive. It set the pace for the book which ended up being a little slow.

I liked the story, but Savannahs present day issue with the threats could have been eliminated all together the only purpose it served was getting her home. She could have made that decision on her own as her grandfather had just passed away.

I am hoping this books tone and pace was because it was an introduction not only to the Wilde sisters and town but their tragic past. I loved the characters and I enjoy the romantic suspense. I am hoping that Samantha and Sabrinas stories will be tidier since theirs wont be bogged down with their parents story.

This book isnt perfect, it has its flaws but there is also some greatness to it. My overall opinion was that this was a slow start to what I hope will be a really great series. I am really looking forward to Sabrina and Samanthas books. I also look forward to getting an update on Zach and Savannah.

On a hot southern night, with a storm on the horizon, a family is shattered. Three beautiful daughtersSavannah, Samantha, and Sabrina Wildego on with their lives, each significantly changed, as they bear the memory of the murder-suicide that killed their parents. For years, they have stayed away from Midnight, Alabama. Until Midnight calls them home.

Savannah is the first one back, when a grueling case in Nashville leads the young prosecutor to seek shelter in the quiet of the once grand Wilde mansion. But when she finds letters casting doubt on her familys dark, shameful past, she realizes that peace in Midnight is a shallow façade and sinister secrets lurk beneath the surface. Zach Tanner, once the towns bad boy, is now the new police chief and still has a wild hold over her. Zach can feel it, too, but he hurt Savannah once. As teenagers, they broke every rule together. Now its his job to keep her safe, even though he isnt sure who her enemies areor which ones might be his own.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I loved it. Romance and suspense what a wonderful combination. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
