Great plot, good characters, well developed - set during the time of William the Conqueror. Captured healer Brynne daydreams of the perfect island that she grew up on as paradise, to keep the horrors of life from overwhelming her. She is bartered to an invading Norman for her healing talents only to find that he wants more. Good tension and chemistry.

I absolutely adore Johansen's historical romances. They always have a magical quality about them with really strong females. Some of them might not be strong at first but they certainly learn to be by the end.

Somehow, I just couldn't put this book down. :)
Iris Johansen is always good. This is not one of her modern day stories. This takes place in 11th century England.
