This highly-readable book discusses the merits of raw milk and dangers of pasteurization/homogenization, along with such related topics as mothers' milk, the eating of meat, and the effect (or, rather, lack thereof) of dietary cholesterol on the human heart. I found Dr. Douglass to be witty, well-informed, and respectful of readers with a wide variety of worldviews (although there is some mild coarse language throughout). This is not an overly scientific book, which may be seen as either a benefit or a downfall, depending on your reason for reading. Unfortunately, it is in dire need of proofreading/editing.

William Douglass covers the basic to the esoteric about raw versus pasteurized milk. Citations are everywhere, referencing a great many different studies and not a handful. The only thing he gets wrong is that coconut oil isn't a bad substance: it is heat sensitive, though pasteurized, and possibly unsuitable for infants and children, but otherwise safe. (But don't take my word, look up Bruce Fife, MD, and Mary Enig's works.)

I highly recommend buying a copy for your shelf if you have read it. And if you haven't read it, search every avenue to try and read it. Beg a copy of your friends if you must.
