The second book in the Miss Julia series is a delightful and funny as the first. Miss Julia is a wonderful character, smart and extremely naive at the same time. It is just a thoroughly enjoyable read, perfect for these hot summer days. Long may Miss Julia live, long may Ms Ann B. Ross write!

Miss Julia Takes Over is the 2nd in the series. After taking in Hazel Marie and Little Lloyd, Miss Julia has been helping Hazel Marie become part of the community. She starts dating the fund raiser from church, but doesn't return home from a date. Miss Julia hires a PI, but goes on the hunt with him. NASCAR drivers, a good luck charm, and a womanizing PI makes this story another entertaining read by Ann B. Ross.

Laugh out loud funny!
The first book in this series was really funny, the second book is just as hilarious. Imagine a proper southern woman taking on the world and doing such crazy things that are totally opposite of what she was taught was proper! This is a great series and i intend to read them all, laughing all the way!
Miss Julia is a delight. I enjoy her taking on modern life head-on. Her insights are hilarious!

This book is the second book about an elderly southern lady and how her life has changed in the last two years since her husband's death.
The book is written well. But it REALLY takes imagination to think that someone in this day and age would be as naive as Miss Julia still is in this second book.
After reading the first two books in the series this reader won't read any more since they are predictable, the plots are similar, and it doesn't take too long to figure out the plot, players and outcome when you are not too far into the book. Even though new characters are introduced, this reader will move on.

I love Miss Julia books. She is such an upright southern lady who goes out of her way to be kind to and protect her friends and "family" even if they are her nasty deceased husband's mistress, Hazel Marie, and Hazel's son little Lloyd, for whom Miss Julia develops a grandmotherly fondness. Good escapist women's fiction, not quite as eccentric and unusual as Fannie Flagg's books, but a close second. Not great literature, but better than bodice-rippers which fail to hold my interest because they are all the same and hold no surprises.
I have absolutely feel in love with Miss Julia, it's been a while since I've read and I need to catch up to see what she is into next. I was very surprised that I liked these books but from the first one I've been hooked! I wish they would do a movie..lol
This book is as enjoyable as the other Julia books.
Great - second book in the series - loved every minute of it.
I just LOVE Miss Julia! All these stories are so heartfelt! This was no exception!

Second in the series, and I probably won't read any more. This time Little Lloyd's mama has disappeared and when the local police refuse to take it seriously, Miss Julia hires a private eye, whom she then proceeds to hound and nag because she thinks she can do a better job than he can. Miss Julia is just a little bit too Church Lady for me to continue this series any further.

Somehow Miss Julia finds herself in a car chase on a NASCAR speedway, proving once again that she is not afraid to try anything.

Wonderful!
The second in the Miss Julia saga. This time Hazel Marie is missing, Brother Vern is still looming, Little Lloyd is in danger, and other pressing issues are bothering Miss Julia who must, of course, do it all herself since she wants it done right! She hires an investigator who presents another colorful character in the action.
Hazel Marie has disappeared and it's up to Miss Julia to find her.
Another light-hearted, entertaining read. Miss Julia makes me laugh out loud!
When Miss Julia burst on the scene in her fictional debut, Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind, this proper lady of a certain age found her orderly world turned upside down when Hazel Marie Puckett appeared with her nine-year-old son, Little Lloyd, who looked disturbingly similar to Miss Julia's late husband. Now, in Miss Julia Takes Over, with her sharp tongue and iron backbone intact, Miss Julia must tackle another disruption when Hazel Marie doesn't return from a dinner date with a fund-raiser who, in Miss Julia's opinion, wears his shorts too tight. Frantic and unable to persuade the local police that Hazel Marie is in danger, Miss Julia hires J. D. Pickens to investigate, despite her reservations about his taste for beer and women. She and Little Lloyd help search for Hazel Marie, running into adventures ranging from a most indelicate display of fisticuffs to a high-speed car chase on the track of a NASCAR Speedway, all the while standing strong ...because if Miss Julia doesn't take care of things, who will?

Fast paced, funny, and full of colorful characters you'll want to meet again and again, Miss Julia Takes Over is a zany race through the South you'll not soon forget.
