This book was excellent! One of Cornick's best. The interchanges between Alex and Jane had me laughing out loud. I loved that she bested him in mental games so many times. Jane was a very engaging heroine; someone I could really root for. My only complaint with the book is that it included too many side stories; Phillip and his love, Simon and his love. The side stories were interesting in their own right (particularly Simon and Therese) and should have gotten their own book.

Great, essentially clean, romance. I loved it, had a hard time putting it down, and will look for more of Ms. Cornick's books.

jane verey was not going to marry lord phillip dalahaye, he was rude ,insulting, and a drunkard. needless to say you can guess the rest.

Note: Read this one before you read 'Lady Polly'!
This story was definitely the best of the three. Although Miss Verey and her treatment of Alex got tiresome after awhile. Close to the end of the book I found myself skipping through the tiresome parts.Really glad I finished this series. I will read some of Ms. Cornick's later books and see how they compare to her first books. I don't think I'll read any more of the earlier books.

After a disastrous marriage, Alex, the Duke of Delahaye, is determined to see his younger brother Philip safely married. Unfortunately, the chosen bride, Miss Jane Verey, is less than amenable, as it's Alex who makes her pulse leap....
