WOW!! I started this book and I couldn't put it down. It grabs you from the get go and you better hold on because it is a fast pace thriller. I had never read anything by this author so I hope I won't be disappinted in his other books. The creativity behind this story is spectacular. I kept guessing and guessing and was still shocked at the ending. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book that I've read by this author and I found it very entertaining. It was an easy read and kept you on your toes trying to figure it out. Very well written, and a great thriller. I think others would enjoy this book.

Absolutely wonderful. There was a point when I literally yelled out loud about a twist so out of the blue you could have hit me with a shovel! I have never read a book by this author, but if the rest of his books are only half as good I am ready to read. I was surprised to find the book so interesting. It only took two days to read it. I highly recommend it to all thriller readers.

I was EXTREMELY impressed with this book. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out who the killer is and what's going on in these kinds of books but this one had a great twist at the end that left me shocked. I read it in a day simply because I just HAD to see how it was going to end. If you're looking for a thriller that will keep you guessing,I definately recommend this one!

This is a fast paced thriller, with many interesting characters. The major problem with the book is it is a theme that has been done before (Kiss the Girls by Patterson is one that comes straight to mind). Still and all with its short chapters, twists and turns and super creepy villain it is a well done serial killer thriller. I did figure out some of the plot twists but because I cared for the main character that wasn't a problem at all. The ending doesn't quite tie everything up into a neat little bow, and I liked that also!
While hanging out in the woods near their home, three teenage girls witness a murder. In their haste to escape a backpack is left behind, and soon the killer is on the trail of the witnesses, determined to leave none of them alive. Only one of the girls escapes his wrath, and we flash forward twenty years later, where Darby McCormack is now a CSI for the Boston PD. While investigating a missing girl case Darby finds a woman hiding beneath the porch of the victim's house. Soon it becomes clear to Darby that this case is leading her back to her own past encounter with a murderer.
Despite some predictable plot lines the character of Darby was so well written and I was so invested in her that I had to continue on until the end to see if she gets the bad guy. I would love to see another book featuring the intrepid Darby McCormick, and her partner Coop, I think there may be a romance in there, though that wouldn't be necessary for me to enjoy another outing with Mr. Mooney.

I really enjoyed reading this flawless thriller. Even if the story as itself isn't new to me and won't be to other readers, it never lost it's pace and kept me guessing.
Early from the beginning the reader is introduced to Daniel Boyle, one of the serial killer, his way of thinking and organizing his own cover while the second one's reveald almost at the end of the book.
The end lacks a bit of excitement especially where the story should be at it's top and Darby McCormick finally learns who's the second serial killer.
However, people that like reading about serilal killer and mystery friends will enjoy this read that keeps you turning page after page.

"THE MISSING" - by Chris Mooney -
This is the very first book that I have ever read by this author and it was FANTASTIC!
It was everything you look for when you pick up a mystery/suspense/thriller book! Loved it and I carried it with me everywhere I went until I finished it... I would read a paragraph or two every chance I got because it was so interesting and exciting!!! I also love that he writes short "chapters" just like James Patterson which I love because then it makes it easier to stop reading when you have to put the book down to do housework or have other things you need to do. Love the short chapters! I give this book a definite " 5 stars ". You won't be disappointed reading this book! Exciting from start to finish. - GAIL - 3/17/10

I just could not finish this book. The details of the kidnapper and what he did to the women made me physically ill. The writing is abrupt, and doesn't flow easily. Do not recommend.

Wow! First chapter started out a bit slow, but then things really picked up! Twists and turns to the plot kept my attention. Basic story: Darby McCormick and two girlfriends witness what turns out to be a murder when they were teens. The killer returns, attempts to kill her, kills one friend, abducts the other who's never heard from again. Years later, as a crime scene investigator, at the scene of a teenage girls abduction, Darby finds an emaciated woman hiding under the porch. Author Chris Mooney leads the story in multiple directions, until the very end when everything ties in. Excellent read.

This was an easy read with an interesting plot line. However, I was not surprised when the perpetrator was revealed. I had it figured out early on. I, also, thought the ending was weak. Overall, an easy read for the summer.

Very quick read. Did not see the end coming. Liked this book b/c it was too gory and had an interesting premise.
I had never read any Chris Mooney books but this was great. A fast read and a page turner! The plot had lots of twists and turns that keeps you reading. Can't wait to read some of his others.

A very good book. A bit graphically gory, but if that doesn't bother you this book will keep your interest. I did see the end coming, but I'm not sure it wasn't just a lucky guess. Maybe it's because it's what I would have done if I were writing the story. All I all, I really recommend it.
If you enjoy serial killer books, you'll like this one. Fast-paced, edge of your seat suspense.
awesome, awesome book!!!kept me up way too late but it was worth it!!
