Unlike her first three novels, Our Missing Hearts, while a work of fiction, reads like a social commentary. Set in a Dystopian society after "the crisis" Ng paints us a picture of what happens when government over reach is accepted and we do not learn from the mistakes of the past. Prophetic, heartbreaking, and thought provoking, this book will remain with you long after you turn the last page.

What a powerful book! If you love books, libraries and freedom, if you care about parent/child bonds, this story will make you want to cry. Beautifully written, carefully imagined, distressingly possible, achingly upsetting. The people who felt this book was just so-so: I don't know what is wrong with them.

Interesting concept for a book, but the plot dragged so slowly for me I couldn't get into it. Also, I hate an ending that leaves me hanging.
