This novel was made into the movie - ruff, gruff, gruesome, keeps you at the edge of your seat while you keep pouring through the pages.

I absolutley loved this book. As I travel across the beautiful state of New Mexico, I imagine seeing Maggie riding across the vast plains or see her father astride his grey on the ridge of the caprock. It was not so long ago that these amazing men and women, white and red and brown, were struggling for thier place here in the "Land of Enchantement". What a great story of courage, forgiveness and adventure Mr. Eidson has spun. Becky of New Mexico

An old broken cowboy finds his daughter's home, prepared to die there but is rebuffed because he abandoned his family long ago. The daughter is forced to use her dad and his survival skills to track her kidnapped daughter after her husband is killed.

Formerly titled THE LAST RIDE, author Thomas Eidson mixes the concepts of Grace, Justice, Hope, Pentance and Family with the age old Western genre elements of Wilderness, Violence, Horses, Savagery and Strength and creates a great contemporary Western.
The characters of Samuel Jones and his daughter Maggie and granddaughters Lily and Dot are destined to become classic figures in the Western pantheon. They are flawed to be sure, but endowed with healthy portions of intelligence, resolve and spiritual endowment. Eidson brilliantly creates strong women characters, deftly able to bridge the feminine nurturing instinct with the warrior spirit- perhaps his greatest achievement with this book. He also uses his narrative to explore, challenge the concept of, and define the notion of "Family"- both extended and nuclear.
