I've wanted to read The Mistletoe Countess by Pepper Basham since it was published in 2021, but ... so many books, too little time. However, after meeting the author in November and having her 'warn' me that it's (insert double eyebrow raise and a wink) I knew this was the year!

I really enjoyed this Christian fiction novel that's a delightful combination of historical, humor, romance, and mystery. I loved heroine Grace's spunk, spirit, and delight in all things bookish, especially when it assisted her in solving the mystery. Her unexpected marriage to Lord Frederick Percy to protect her family's commitment and her sister's reputation is one of the few marriage of convenience stories I've liked. Their grumpy/sunshine romance was great - one of the steamiest descriptions of newly-married physical intimacy I've read in Christian fiction.

I have a signed print copy but listened to the audiobook narrated by Pamela Klein and liked every minute. I'm thrilled she also narrated books 2 and 3 in the Freddie and Grace Mystery series. I'm excited to 'travel' to Egypt in The Cairo Curse and read about their further adventures.
