Enchanting story takes you into a life from India who lives by her own destiny. I loved the way this author described things.

a strange and beautiful novel. It was a little hard for me to get into but worth wading through the dreamy prose.

The way this author writes reminds me a little of Isabelle Allende. The book uses the lore of spices to build a novel about a modern-day mystic healer who lives in San Francisco.

Beautiful prose, truly beautiful, but the ending fell short which is why I am only giving it 4 stars.

Book is better than the film, naturally...
I love this story. The fact that I read a borrowed copy and then made sure to locate my own hardcover copy should say a lot about how I feel about this book. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

The story of Tilo, a woman who is trained in the ancient art of spices. An unexpected romance with a handsome stranger forces her to choose between the supernatural life of an immortal and the vicissitudes of modern life.
