A lovely heartwarming story about a boy and his mother. His mother is ill and Conor has a hard time dealing with it. He is having to grow up way before his time. It has left him with a nightmare he dreams every night. Then one night a monster calls but it is not the one from his nightmare, as he had thought it would be. This one is there for a different reason.
I loved how this showed how everyone who is involved with an illness... the son, the mother, grandmother or even people on the outside, cope however they can, in any manner that they can. It is a book I think everyone should read.

This one was picked for book group and I'm really glad because I wouldn't have chosen it on my own. It was so easy to read and there were twists and turns all of the place which is something that I really enjoy. I try to guess what's going to happen and I like when I get surprised.
The uniqueness of this book is that there are stories within the story and the author nailed it so completely that I think this style is going to get copied a lot. Like twilight and hunger games. It'll be the first in a million to follow:) Fabulous job, Patrick!
