Every time that I pick up and read a book from Mary Connealy I am in awe at the topics and issues that are addressed in such a loving and in depth manner. This specific book deals with marriage, courage, abuse, healing, strength, and new faith. The lives of the characters are so real and so easily comparable to real life that it is extremely difficult to remember that it supposedly just a fictitious story in novel format.
Cassie is a woman who was brought up in a closed environment where she was unable to think or be for herself. She was then thrust into a life where the static existence that she formerly knew was practically ripped to shreds as piece by piece she learned to think for herself. Belle is a wounded woman who has endured so much pain at the form of broken hearts in marriage that any hope she once had has dwindled. It is now time for her to either accept the painful defeat of life or find hope in an attempt of grace in action. This book tells the story of Cassie and gets a good foot in the door of the tale behind Belle's life. (Cannot wait for another book in the series to find out more!!)
Many people know and think about abuse and how it is a physical pain, but often they forget about the emotional and spiritual scars that are endured as well. Within this tale, various characters find ways of adapting and moving forward in life from years of proverbial abuse. Some make the right decisions and some do not. Watching these characters and their mistakes and correct actions can cause a reader to grow as well.
This book is filled to the brim with situations where a reader can learn through someone's pain instead of their own. Also in the style of Mary Connealy, conversations and events fill a reader full to giggling whether they want to or not. Their were points where I'm not sure if I should blame my own pregnancy or not for the giggles brought me to tears. For me personally, another best part of this book was reading about two characters and their own experiences with pregnancy. This is the first book with a birth that I have been blessed to read that was more than she's pregnant and in the last chapter has the babe. I was enthralled by the experiences and interactions that it proved to provide with neighbors and spouses.
And now, I impatiently wait for the next book in the series or other from the imaginations of Mary Connealy!!

Mary Connealy's books always have a way of pulling me in and getting under my skin. Montana Rose was no exception at all! She took a seemingly ordinary setting out West with every-day people, and turned it into a story that was full of emotion. I connected with these characters in a way that hasn't happened to me in a very long time, so much so that I felt like I was a small part of their community.
I loved the compliment at the very beginning of the book that stated this was a tribute to Janette Oke's famous book, Love Comes Softly. It's been years since I read that book, but the story is one that I'll never forget. I thought Mary's take on this very similar story was done so very well that I never once compared the two. Mary's story stood apart and had it's own personality, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
I cannot wait to read the rest of this series, and I have no doubt that I will fly through it! Book 2, The Husband Tree, looks to be a continuation of Belle's story that was featured in Montana Rose. Hopefully, she'll be able to do something with that dead-beat husband of hers, other than hit him upside the head with her skillet. :o)

I loved this story! I love a knight in shining armor or Stetson in this case! Red is a quiet, mild -mannered hero but he's a hero just the same. He rescues Cassie from a bunch of lonely crude men who just want a woman...any woman, willing or not. Everyone thinks Cassie is a snobby "china doll" but it turns out that Cassie is a really sweet hard-working lady with a heart of gold.
I always enjoy Mary Connealy's books. They are so entertaining! I'm looking forward to reading The Husband Tree, Book 2 in the Montana Marriages trilogy so that I can learn more about Belle, the toughest rancher ever to set foot in Divide, Montana.(in my opinion)

This is an EXCELLENT start to a new series! I can't wait to read The Husband Tree and Wildflower Brides.
This is the first book in my second series I've read by Mary Connealy. And since historical romance is my favorite genre, I absolutely loved this book, too. Mary has a way of adding humor while tackling some serious marital issues in this book. And she gives enough background of her other characters to set up for future books in this series. I can hardly wait for the next book to not only to see what happens with Belle and her daughters, but also see how Cassie and Red's relationship grows. And I do hope to find out what happens to Wade. Highly recommend!

Oh my goodness, this book is sooooo good! I completely fell in love with the characters... I can't wait to read the next one!
First book of Montana Marriage series--"Cassie" is a great character. She is learning submission does not mean "mindless". With Red's help and his faith he'll teach her about God and what a "real" marriage should be. Very funny book and worth the read.
I don't typically write reviews, but this book has inspired me to do so. This is the first book I have read by this author and I'm glad I did. The best way for me to describe this book is that it was just sweet and refreshing. I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning. There were times I cried and there were times I found myself laughing out loud. I'm looking forward to reading "The Husband Tree".
Great Story! I enjoy anything by Mary Connealy! Looking forward to reading about Belle!
