The author, Julie Mars, is on a journey. She leaves New Mexico for the North Country of New York State to care for her sister, Shirley, who is dying of pancreatic cancer. She "spent seven month with a dying sister who suffered a spiritual crisis that rubbed of on me."
Julie decides to attempt to find the Spirit her sister had, by going to a different church for Thirty-one Sundays. Her journey takes her to a different house of faith each week, She learns a little about each religion and a lot about herself and the meaning of life.
This book reads like a personal journal. Julie shares her joys, sorrows, questions, her very self with the reader. It is a worthwhile read.
