Mary first appeared in "Women's Heart" as an angry goth teen. Here is her story as a grown up actress and screenwriter. There are some minor paranormal elements in this story such as premonition dreams and hearing ghosts.

The story started out pretty strong and interesting. But towards the end it dragged a bit. Perhaps that was why Ross added Phoebe and Ethan's story.

Phoebe is pregnant and on the run from her abusive husband who escaped from house arrest. Ehtan is a marine turned organic farmer who falls in love with her. I know the beginning of her story was part of another Shelter Bay novel which ended with Phoebe's husband being arrested for trying to kidnap her. Personally Phoebe's story, although short, kind of stole the show. It doesn't weave well into Mary and JT's story so it stood out. There were just more things happening. The end to their story is not exactly satisfactory and is left somewhat open ended.

Overall it was okay. I loved the conversations between Mary and JT, but there wasn't a lot of excitement going on between them.

This was a wonderful book. I love the the character of J.T. (who doesn't love a marine). The tragic tale of 18 monthes of casualty duty, telling family's they have lost a love one in the war, has broken J.T.'s spirit and caused him to leave his dream as a lifetime military man. He talks to no one, not even his brothers who are also in the military, about his duties or the depression he is now feeling. He let's no one in .....until Mary.

Entertaining, characters are fully developed, story is engaging. Another great addition to the series.
