I never enjoyed required school reading so much. This book really got me into biographies for the first time. Like a snapshot of the times. I learned so much.

I learned alot about TR's childhood, particularly how his asthma shaped his character through his family's treatment of him due to it. It was a well-written, well-researched enjoyable read about a very lively, interesting man who had a big impact whatever his role.

This is the best biography I have read of Theodore Roosevelt. It covers from his birth to about age 26 years old. It also covers his first marriage to the beautiful and vivacious Alice Hathaway Lee which is often glossed over. They were married for 4 years and she died in giving birth to their daughter Alice. When Theodore was 20 his wonderful father
died. At 24 years old, on February 14, 1884, his wife Alice and his mother died on the same day. It speaks of the close relationship of his family with Franklin Roosevelts Family. This is a great book.I rate it 10+++++.

Really enjoyed the book. TR overcame so many obstacles. Especially enjoyed learning about his father who had such an influence on him. Highly recommend it.

I did not like this book at all. I couldn't even get through the second chapter. The auther was talking about so many different people that for most of the first and part of the second chapter I wasn't even sure who I was reading about.
