This is the sixth entry in the British police procedural series featuring Inspector John Rebus who lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. It's become one of my favorite modern-day mystery series with an imperfect but likable main character, good mysteries and a great sense of a city I would love to someday visit.
I just think that Ian Rankin is at the top of the entire mystery/detective genre. With his knowledge of procedure, psychology and 'wet and windy' Scotland, the books are a triple treat; I loved it and you will likely feel the same way.
An excellent thriller set in Edinburgh during the Festival. I love Rebus and Rankin.
Third in the Inspector Rebus series.

Ian Rankin seems to get better with each book. I love the look that we get of Edinburgh and some of its underground life. He keeps you interested all the way until the end. I look forward to the next one and his well-developed characters.
Another page turner from Ian Rankin. I love the tortured soul of Inspector Rebus.
