I had high hopes for this novel. It's the story of a young girl who travels across the U.S. to visit her sick mother - a coming of age/road story, a sort of Catcher in the Rye meets Harold Fry pilgrimage. There are certainly some interesting and amusing moments, but I didn't get through the first 4th of the book before I gave up. too much profanity from her young mouth caused me to lose interest before I got very far. I have to like a character or I won't continue. she was not my cup of tea. Might be yours and might be good if I'd continued as it has lots of good ratings.
