The second book in the Redwall series answers many questions... This story of a daring warrior mouse named Martin, and his charming yet fierce friends as they seek the mysterious Salamandastron and face The evil tyrant Tsarmina will truly capture the hearts of all ages of readers... I don't know why they said this book was for 9-12 year olds! I fell in love with the book the moment I met Martin and Gingivere and Young Dinny...etc. A good read that takes you through the sorrows and joys experienced in Mossflower Woods... Full of clean, wholesome fiction, this is the perfect book to curl up and read on a rainy day!

My children love this series. Action, adventure, honor, and integrity. What a great read.

The second book in the Redwall series, Moosflower is just as good as the first. Going back to the days of the famed Martin the Warrior, when the evil wildcat queen, Tsarmina, held Mossflower Woods in her sway, this is the tale of how Martin helped to free the land and build Redwall Abbey. It is also the story of how he got his legendary sword.

I finished this "second" book in the Redwall series this afternoon. This is technically a prequel to the first story, telling the story of Martin the Warrior and his quest to Salamandastron. Meahwhile the woodlanders back home are busy trying to free Mossflower woods from the evil tyranny of Tsarmina the wildcat. This book is just as endearing as the first book in the series, and it's fun to read about the ancestors of the crew we met in Redwall. There's not too much else to say about this book; it's really quite similar to the first in terms of style, and to some extent, plot, but it's a fun read for the lazy summer before classes start.

Another cute story and interesting read.
The prequel to Redwall. The first quest of Martin the Warrior.
Choose any Brian Jacques book and have a wonderful read! These books are for children (middle-school age), but are great for adults too. If your kids are reading them, have a look yourself. You won't be disappointed. They're beautifully written, have exciting plots and a depth of meaning that's for all ages. A fabulous alternative to Harry Potter. Why a movie has never been made of any of these, I don't know.
The second book in this series, but actually the prequel to book one, the story of Martin. I highly recommend this book for teens and adults alike. You can't help but be swept up into this very charming fantasy series and cheer heartily for Mossflower!
Loved the book!! Such a great story and the way he tells the story keeps the reader hooked till the very last page! I highly recommend it to any fan of the fantasy genre!!
Prequel to Redwall, written in 1988
great for teen or young adult
Loved the series!
Kids will love this adventure through the imagination.
Mossflower is the best of Brian Jaques' works. It tells a classic 'there and back again' story with the twist of catching up a hero in the midst of wandering and following him as he tries to travel in a circle to gain help and confront his great foe back where we met him. Its hero is gallant and pure of heart. His world seems fresh. "Redwall" started Jaques' success, but this story of a heroic journey of three companions provides the bedrock on which all his later acclaim was really built. In this book he well deserves his reputation as a teller of adventure tales.
Great Book, A must read by all....
The first sequel to Redwall is as engaging as the original. Although, since I love cats, it's always somewhat difficult encountering the evil Tsarmina ... who is a wildcat.
Martin the Warrior fights evil bobcats for freedom of woodland creatures.
My middle schoolers are enjoying these books
Mossflower is one of my top three favorites of the Redwall series. Brian Jacques captures the magic of a child's imagination in these books.
I enjoyed this mouse adventure story very much!
