11/25/10: I just finished this book and found it hard to put down. It's the first book in a mystery series about a Canadian police detective, Christine Morris, recently transferred into a profiling unit in Toronto. She is sent to a conference in Scotland and encounters not only a local murder mystery but a mystery involving her mother and heritage. I thought the characters were well-defined, the Hebrides setting interesting, and the writing wonderful. I'm ordering the 2nd book in the series from Amazon (The K Handshape) and will also get the first book in her "Murdoch" series. I also found two anthologies with her stories on Amazon. Cheryl Fox
