Examines the first, most lasting - and most crucial - tie of every woman\'s life, and shows ow, in all the passages of a woman\'s life - with men. with other women, on the job, and with her own daughters - every woman can begin to change the shildhood patterns of the mother/daughter bond, and become the vital, independent, fully sexual woman she wants to be.

I read this in college for class credit in psychology. This is my second copy of the book as I will not part with the first. I still remember how powerful the book was when I read it. If you are seeking answers about what made your sexuality and feminity what it is today, this is the book. Simply tremendous.

secuality, self esteem, the true impact of a daughter most important role model
Is there any relationship that is as complicated as the one between a mother and daughter? Probably not. Nancy Friday covers the sometimes tense, sometimes loving, and always complicated relationship between a mother and daughter. I think a mother or a daughter would enjoy this book.

A Daughter's Search for Identity. A best seller in 1977, deals with timeless relationships, and personal growth through a life span. Mothers may love their children, but not necessarily love them! Chapters are Mother Love, A Time to be Close, A Time to Let Go, Body Image, Competition, The Other Girls, Surrogates and Models, Men The Mystery, The loss of Virginity, The Single Years, Marriage The Return of Symbiosis, A Mother Dies A Daughter is born, The cycle repeats. Many reference source notes. This is life span psycholgy in a story form. Every female can relate to sections of it, Men would gain from it. I rate this highly. It's an older book, but not necessarily dated.

I only got through the first few pages. It didn't seem relevant to me.

I'm confused by the "dry up" in front of the title, the book is My Mother My Self (dry up is no where on the cover.) It's a very direct, insightful book on the things we learn from our mothers that we likely don't realize.
