Until a few years ago, I had never even heard of the Halifax explosion. This is a very good book on the various aspects of this tremendous tragedy. Not only does it result in an enormous fireball, but there's the sound shock, the vaccuum effect created, and also the tsunami. I learned so much about the fallout of a tragedy like this. Then there's the members of this family that suffered so much loss. My heart ached for the few who were left to put their lives back in order. The author did extensive research in not only family history, but also the technical details of this explosion and the surrounding area in which it occured. Very much worth reading.
