From inside cover: "They've given a lot to Lance Sijan. They gave him the most cherished medal that the United States can give a fighting man, the Medal of Honor. They named a monumental building in the Air Force Academy after him. They recorded his exploits for every officer candidate in the Academy to read and learn. But that was nothing compared to what Lance Sijan has given to the Air Force, to America, to us all: The clearest example we can ever have of what it is and means to be a hero."

This is the account of one man's struggle in the jungles of Vietnam. His persistence and courage lead to his own death but inspired the witnesses around him and the preservation of his tale. A must read for any member of the military or someone needing a kick in their fourth point of contact.

A heartbreaking and tragic account of an incredibly brave soldier. Capt. Lance Sijan's plane exploded during a bombing mission over Laos. Critically injured, he spent 7 weeks evading capture by the NVA after rescue attempts we abandoned!
