Fascinating insight into the author's thoughts about his novels and movies made from them.
Good story about Irving's dealing with the making of the movie: Cider House Rules
Readers who are fans of John Irving's, like I am, will most likely enjoy this memoir about how bizarre the movie industry is and all the obstacles that prevent a book from being made into a movie. It is well-written, if tedious at times, but overall rather fascinating in the details of how Irving transformed his substantial book The Cider House Rules into a less substantial screenplay.
Describes the angst a writer goes through when converting a book to a screenplay. FASCINATING!
