If you enjoy the TV series, you will enjoy this book. The author is fairly true to all the characters and gives the same feel as the TV series. Mr. Monk is a rare character and this book finds him having to move in with his assistant and her daughter. What is a germ-o-phobe to do?
In the midst of all this, 2 very different murders occur, there is no way they could be related or are they?
A fast easy read.

You have to have watched the TV show. If you have and if you like it (and it's hard to imagine anyone who wouldn't), then this book will be a lot of fun for you. Written from the point of view of Natalie, Monk's assistant and keeper, the book follows our favorite obsessive-compulsive detective as he brilliantly solves another couple of murders--one of the victims is the firehouse dog.
Lee Goldberg, the author, knows his Monk. He has written several episodes of the show. You'll fall right into the rhythm and flow of a Monk episode and enjoy the ride.

It's not quite as much fun as the TV show, but it's a remarkable rendering of our favorite defective detective. Lee Goldberg, the author, has written several of the TV episodes and knows the characters well. The story is well done and quite convincing. It would make a great episode. If you can't get enough of Monk, this is a great way to continue the fascination.

The overall story and mystery were good. My one complaint was that the point-of-view was Natalie's, and the way he wrote Natalie didn't seem to marry up to the Natalie that we knew in the TV series. Don't get me wrong, his portrayal of Natalie wasn't completely off, but there were various parts throughout the book that just didn't seem like her.

If you like the TV show, you'll love this book. It's like watching an episode inside your head. If you haven't seen the TV show, what are you waiting for? Monk is the best TV detective since Columbo. Watch the show, then read this book. In that order.
