I wondered if changing authorship of these books from Lee Goldberg to Hy Conrad would mess things up. Turns out, the changeover is relatively seamless. This book is pretty much like all the ones before. It lets us fans of our beloved Mr. Monk enjoy yet another adventure with him and the cast of characters around him that we've come to also love. I have but one tiny complaint: Mr. Conrad is not quite as skillful in hiding the clues. The two facts needed to make the solution to the main mystery obvious appear on the same page and stick out (at least to me) like a sore thumb. I've never had that happen in a Monk book or show before, and rarely in any cozy mystery.
