This is a delight of a little book. Humorous, touching, unique. My daughter and I read it aloud to each other. The magic of a hardworking charwoman getting to travel to Paris in hopes of buying a Dior dress; her longing and determination to own just one thing of such utter loveliness no matter the cost. Just writing the review makes me want to go back and read it again. It was made into a movie starring Angela Lansbury, which is also delightful.

This is a sweet, heart-warming, amusing novella about a London charwoman (cleaning lady), Mrs. Harris, who develops a sudden desire to own a beautiful Dior dress. She scrimps and saves and finally finds herself in Paris for a day to fulfill her dream - but gets much more than she bargained for. It is an utter delight, loaded with sentiment, and just the right length for a cozy, comfortable read.
