I love this series of Emily Brightwell's, Mrs Jeffries & the Inspector [which is the first book in the series]. They all take place in England in the 1800's. Mrs Jeffries is the housekeeper for the Inspector with Scotland Yard. Unbeknown to the Inspector, Mrs. Jeffries and his household staff help him to solve his cases. There are about 13 characters that are developed in the reading. They are a quick read about 250 pages long and always fun.

Another enjoyable cozy read in this long running series. There's not a lot of suspense or tension in these books, but they are a pleasant read because of the charm and likableness of the characters. Insp. Witherspoon is developing a bit of backbone in this one.

This is a novel from an long series featuring Mrs. Jeffries who runs a Victorian household owned by Inspector Witherspoon. The inspector's job is to solve murders for Scotland Yard and he is unaware of the help he receives from his staff and friends. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the whole series.

Out of all the Mrs. Jeffries mysteries that I read this one is the best by far. Mrs. Jeffries and her belowstairs cohorts try to save an innocent man from the gallows, with not must time to do it in. In the end Inspector Witherspoon stands up to Inspector Nivens, what fun.

Very good story, enjoyable, the characters are always fun and a delight to read about. The premise of this series is very enjoyable and much different than most. Easy read, fast, the story always move right along and don't lag. With the addition of the cat it is great fun. Mrs. Goodge has become a real mother hen with Samson. Fred and the Inspector are coming into their own and this time our old nemesis showed up again. Inspector has begun to get a backbone with this guy. What a delight he is, so naive and clueless. The characters past history is fun and is told each time, but never in a boring or drawn out way.
