Mrs. Pollifax in Zambia. Exciting, funny, quick read.
In which Mrs. Emily Polifax takes out a gang of terrorists and meets a very special person.
This series is excellent and surprising. An unusual book because it is about a CIA operative who is well past the age you would normally expect to find. This is because Mrs. Pollifax didn't start until after her kids were raised with kids of their own and she was a widow finding life dull and boring. Her life is anything but now as she circles the globe finding adventure and risk wherever she goes. This is the fifth book in the series.
One of her very best adventures.
I started reading Dorothy Gilman's book due to a recommendation from a PBS member and have not regretted it. Her books are exceptional, adventureous, a lot of fun to read. The reader is amazed on how Mrs. Pollifax gets into so many situations but is such a smart cookie, she get out of them somehow and that is the fun in reading her books. In this Safari adventure, Emily is kidnapped from the camp, and does not know why...but she finds out and plays it cool to find a way out....as she usually does. I highly recommned!

Our town has a used bookstore where they are very friendly, and they will often hand you books to borrow that they think you might enjoy. I normally read Urban Fantasy, but I find the Mrs. Pollifax mysteries enjoyable, filled with humor, and rather like chocolates. I read one mystery and I can't help wanting to read another.
Mrs. Pollifax is charming, witty and keeps you interested. I have read all of her books now and am reading them over. I recommend!
When a character in a mystery is compared to Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, it has to be good!
Number 5 in the series.
Gilman has a way of keeping the reader reading. Good plots that carry through with the story. Can't wait to read my next one.

All Mrs. Pollifax had to do was take photos on a safari. True to her curious self, she got a lot more than photos.

One villain I figured out, while the other was a total surprise.
I love this series. The book was fast paced and exciting. There were several unexpected events that kept it moving along and hard to put down.
