Halloween is fast approaching, but there are no treats in store for part-time teacher Kate Austin. The unsolved killing of a local girl is testing her mettle, an impending divorce from her husband Andy, is working her last nerve, and an unexpected visit from her mother-in-law has sent Kate's boyfriend, police detective Michael Stone, running for cover.

I love anything by Jonnie Jacobs, especially the ones featuring Kate Austen. Kate is a very believable character, and the plot is full of suspense, not predictable at all. The perfect choice if you're hankering for a really good mystery...something that is increasingly hard to find these days.

Two teens brutally murdered and it looks like a serial killer but is it? Kate Austen's shy student, Julie, is one of the victims and Kate thinks there is something very wrong with the theory and investigates herself. Good story and a great twist at the end.

I read all of Jacobs Kali O'Brien books, this is the first book in Jacobs' Kate Austen series. I was not disappointed. The book was fast paced and kept me guessing. Jacobs did a good job with the character development and the story line moved along. It was great to take on the plane.
