Steve Allen is always fun to read - but he died too soon to write enough books
I've read a few of Steve Allen's mysteries, and in general they're well crafted and fun. I do get a bit tired of his detective self, however. Setting himself up as a courageous master detective is a bit much, but I get particularly annoyed when he displays his cultural prejudices in smug dismissive terms.
