Aimee Leduc, the French-American private eye living in Paris, is back in this 4th installment of the popular series that began with Murder in the Marais. Aimee gets mugged in an alley and is blinded. Was she merely the most recent attempted victim of a serial killer? Or is someone after her personally? She tries to help her sidekick and the police figure it out while coping with her new disability and the attentions of a sexy doctor.
The fourth in the series by Cara Black. In this book Aimee Leduc becomes blinded. I thought Black's descriptions of the world from the perspective of someone newly blinded were realistic and thoughtful. I am reading the whole series.
This is a wonderful and atmospheric mystery; offbeat and quirky. A great look at Paris and its underbelly...
I was about to give up on the Aimee Leduc mystery series because the stories are a bit too modern, too punk, for a senior citizen like me. Then I read Aimee Leduc #4, Murder in the Bastille. Wow! Murder in the Bastille has a riveting plot---but one that doesn't tie up all the loose ends. So now I can't wait to read Aimee Leduc #5.

Aimee is attacked in the shadowy Passage Boule Blanche. When she regains consciousness, Aimée finds that she is blind. She is determined to identify her attacker. Is he a serial killer or was Aimee his intended target? I find Aimee and her interest in designer clothing to be an interesting person and Rene, her computer genius, rather unique. This book had a very slow pace but was a great way to show us how to deal with disabilities like loss of sight. She needs to get back to some of the history of Paris and it's atmosphere that make these books a great location for a murder mystery. I look forward to reading the next in the series and recommend this books to those who love Paris.
